World Centers PDF Print E-mail

Interested in England, Switzerland, India or Mexico? These countries are home to the four world centers where girls from around the globe can learn more about each other, the Girl Guide/Girl Scout movement, and the countries they are visiting. The centers sometimes offer special programs, and the facilities provide inexpensive lodging for members of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts. To inquire about accommodations or special events, members of Girl Scouts of the USA can directly contact the centers, which are owned and managed by the World Association.

Atmosphere Each of the four world centers offers an informal atmosphere that encourages interaction among visitors, who are expected to contribute to the daily operation of the facility. As space in these facilities is limited, they ask that visitors bring only essential items.

Gifts Sometimes visitors bring gifts to the world centers, or contact the center before the visit to find out what is needed to maintain operations. Although monetary donations to the Juliette Low World Friendship Fund cannot be exclusively designated for a purpose, they will help add to the funds that support the work of the centers.

Dress Informal dress is generally acceptable. For particular sessions, ceremonies or events, participants may be required to wear an official Girl Scout uniform or a camp uniform.

Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence.
