The Girl Scout program can change the way girls see the world and their place in it.
Girls learn the importance of personal responsibility, the value of goal-setting, the spirit of teamwork, and the thrill of accomplishment. The skills, attitudes, behaviors and values that girls gain in Girl Scouting enable them to lead with courage, confidence, and character, and to make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Daisies

programs_daisies.jpgGirl Scout Daisies is the introductory program for kindergarteners and first graders. Through a story, the girls journey into The Daisy Flower Garden where they meet flowers and “critters” who help them explore global diversity, botany, the environment and stewardship of the land, Girl Scout history and values of the Law. Exciting activities parallel the story where girls explore the natural world, using their growing skills to make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Brownies

programs_brownies.jpgGirl Scout Brownies are in second and third grade. On The Brownie Quest, girls search for and find three keys which, they will discover, are the keys to leadership. Along the way Brownies will find out about their own special talents and qualities, lead their families in a healthy living activity, and participate in a Brownie Brainstorm designed to engage them in identifying their own Take Action project. Brownies are invited to Go ELF by Exploring, Linking arms and Flying into action.

Girl Scout Juniors

programs_juniors.jpgGirl Scout Juniors, in fourth and fifth grades, are “Agents of Change.” Girls explore real power:  the power of one, the power of a team, and the power of community. They plan and carry out a Take Action project and explore the “her-story” of heroines. Girls practice teaming up and create a comic book-style story based on steps for taking action.

Girl Scout Cadettes

programs_cadettes.jpgGirl Scout Cadettes, for girls in grades six through eight, “aMaze” as they move up the ladder to a greater amount of girl planning, leadership skill training, group review and self-evaluation. Girls navigate the twists and turns of the progression of adolescence and relationships using quizzes and team games to explore friendship dramas, first impressions, and coping with bullies. After resolving these “obstacles”, girls travel onward by creating a Take Action project which allows them to share their relationship savvy with other. They will see themselves as peacemakers – advancing peaceful exchanges – one relationship at a time. Awards (Interest Project Awards – IPA) at this level are multifaceted and require group as well as independent work. Girls nearing the end of this program can decide to work on a Silver Award, the highest recognition for a Cadette.

Girl Scout Seniors

programs_seniors.jpgGirl Scout Seniors, ninth and tenth graders, discover who they are and develop their leadership skills. Welcome to “GIRLtopia,” where girls chart and carry out their own plans, with adults as mentors. Girls explore problems impacting girls in the world. They create an art project based on their vision of a better world.

Girls establish a Take Action project that brings the world one step closer to their vision. Girls take on leadership projects, get involved in girl/adult planning teams, serving as girl members on the Overseas Committee or as delegates at national events, for example. They can earn IPAs and, if they so wish, go for the highest recognition in Girl Scouts, the Gold Award.

Girl Scout Ambassadors

programs_ambassadors.jpgFor Girl Scout Ambassadors in eleventh and twelfth grades, it’s “Your Voice, Your World: The Power of Advocacy.” Girls explore the rich and global history of women’s advocacy efforts, engage in an eight-step process to identify an issue and propose a solution. Girls learn how to use this process in their own lives, build their networks using their own “Six Degrees of Separation” and take some time out for themselves, exploring everything from moods through career possibilities. Girls may also wish to start, continue, or complete their Gold Award before becoming an adult or lifetime member.
